What we package

Three layers.
One supplier.

Every product needs packaging at three levels — what touches the product, what holds multiple products together, and what gets it from our dock to yours. Most brands juggle 2–3 suppliers across these layers. We do all three under one quote, one timeline, one contract.

Layer 01

Primary packaging

What touches the product. The unit a customer actually sees, opens, and uses.

  • Folding cartons (paperboard, SBS, CCNB)
  • Set-up rigid boxes
  • Bottles, jars, tubes, closures
  • Pouches & flexible packaging
  • Pressure-sensitive labels & shrink sleeves
  • Glass & PET containers
Layer 02

Secondary packaging

What holds multiple units together. Retail-ready, distribution-ready, or both.

  • Master cartons (inner pack & outer pack)
  • Retail-ready shipper displays (RRP)
  • Counter displays & POP units
  • Multipack sleeves & cluster packs
  • Inserts & partitions (paperboard or foam)
  • Kraft & mailer boxes
Layer 03

Tertiary packaging

What gets the product from our dock to yours. Industrial-grade transit and palletization.

  • Shipping cartons (single-wall & double-wall corrugated)
  • Stretch film, strapping, void fill
  • Pallet wrap & edge protectors
  • Wood & plastic pallets (GMA / Euro / custom)
  • Pallet covers & thermal blankets
  • Custom crating for oversize loads

Bring art or get art

Design that
ships.

Some buyers come with print-ready art. Others come with a Pantone code and a vibe. Both work. Here's how we handle each, and what's included with every project.

We accept print-ready files PDF/X-1a or X-4, packaged AI, native InDesign. Press-side prep included.
  • Concept stage
Full structural and graphic design Brand brief → 2–3 design directions → revision rounds → production-ready art.
  • Dieline
Custom dielines from your spec 3D mockups for stakeholder review. Free with every production project.
  • Proofing
Digital + physical proofs included Hardcopy proofs ship before plate-making. No surprises on press.
  • Compliance

Sustainability

Eco options,
without the greenwash.

Sustainability shouldn't be a marketing line. Here are the actual eco material and process options we offer — what they are, what they cost, and where they make sense.

FSC-certified paper

Chain-of-custody from responsibly managed forests. Available on all paperboard and corrugated. Typical 3–8% cost premium.

PCR content

Post-consumer recycled paperboard (30–100%) and plastics (25–100% PCR). Available on most formats. Cost varies by PCR %.

Compostable options

PLA-based pouches, fiber bottles, mushroom mycelium void fill, kraft paper tape. BPI-certified where claims are made.

Water-based inks

Soy-based and water-based inks on flexo and offset jobs. Reduces VOCs without sacrificing print quality. No cost premium.

How packaging projects work

Five steps,
clear milestones.

From brief to first production run, every project moves through the same five stages. Each stage has a clear deliverable and a clear handoff — no black-box waiting periods.

1

Brief

You send product specs, dimensions, volumes, and brand assets. We send back a quote and timeline.

Week 1
2

Design

Dielines, structural mockups, and graphic design. You see 3D renders before any plates are cut.

Weeks 2–3
3

Proof

Digital and hardcopy proofs ship to you. Press-condition match — what you approve is what you get.

Week 4
4

Produce

Press run, QC inspection, kit assembly. Photos at each stage so you can verify before shipment.

Weeks 5–7
5

Deliver

Ships to your dock, fulfillment partner, or co-packer. Reorders skip Steps 1–3 — ~4-week cycle.

Week 8
Use cases

Three projects.
Three different shapes.

Anonymized examples of the kind of packaging projects we typically run. If yours rhymes with one of these, we can probably help.

DTC brand · skincare adjacent

Launch kit: cartons, bottles, mailer, inserts.

Volume
5K units · launch
Timeline
8 weeks brief to ship

A DTC brand needed the full packaging stack for a launch — primary cartons, bottles with custom labels, mailer boxes, and tissue-wrap inserts. We coordinated three production runs across paperboard, label, and corrugated suppliers so everything landed at their co-packer the same week. Reorders now run on a 4-week cycle.

Industrial supplier

Retail-ready shippers for a hardware chain.

Volume
22K displays
Timeline
10 weeks

A safety-supplier wholesale account needed half-pallet retail-ready shippers (RRPs) for a hardware-chain promotion. We designed the structural dieline, printed the litho-lam corrugated, and kitted the displays with product before shipping to chain DCs. Hit the promotion launch window with two weeks to spare.

B2B distributor

Co-branded master cartons across 12 SKUs.

Volume
12 SKUs · 8K cartons total
Timeline
6 weeks first run

A B2B distributor wanted Bravon-supplied PPE shipped in their own branded master cartons rather than generic kraft. We co-branded the carton design, ran one consolidated print job across all 12 SKUs, and folded the cost into their wholesale quote. Their customers see their brand, not ours.

How packaging is priced

Three cost
buckets, no more.

Packaging quotes look complicated because the industry makes them complicated. We break costs into three buckets and disclose each separately: tooling, production, and design. Every line item is visible. No hidden markup.

Most buyers find their first project sits 10–18% below what a packaging broker would quote — because brokers add a layer of margin we don't have.

Bucket 01

Tooling (one-time)

Dies, plates, mold cavities, and print cylinders. These are physical assets created for your project and amortized over the production run. Disclosed up front, paid once per design.

Typical: $400–$3,500 per format. Custom bottles & flexible pouches sit higher; standard corrugated dies sit lower. Tooling is yours to keep — reorders skip this cost.
Bucket 02

Production (per-unit)

The variable cost — material, ink, press time, finishing, packaging of the packaging. Scales with volume. Bigger runs = lower per-unit cost.

Typical breakpoints: 1K, 5K, 10K, 25K, 50K, 100K units. Each tier unlocks meaningful per-unit reductions. We'll quote each tier so you can pick volume based on your cash position.
Bucket 03

Design (project-based)

Only charged when we're doing creative work. Structural dielines + 3D mockups are included free with every production project. Graphic design is per-project quoted.

Typical: $0 if you bring print-ready art. $1,200–$6,500 for full structural + graphic design depending on scope. Brand-system design (multi-SKU lockup) sits higher.
Frequently asked

Packaging,
without the mystery.

The questions we hear most from new packaging clients. If yours isn't here, ask directly — we'll add it.

How is this different from your Private Label or Sourcing programs?

Private Label is putting your brand on Bravon's existing products. Sourcing is finding new products Bravon doesn't currently sell. Packaging is creating the actual packaging stack for whatever product you have — your product, a Bravon product, or a sourced product. The three programs often run together for the same client.

What's the minimum order on a packaging project?

MOQs vary by format. Corrugated and folding cartons start at ~1,000 units. Labels can run lower (500). Custom bottles or pouches typically start at 5,000–10,000 because of tooling amortization. We'll tell you the practical minimum for your format on the first call, not after you've sunk time into design.

Do you handle international shipping?

Yes. Most packaging is produced domestically (US + Mexico) and ships LTL/FTL freight. International production runs (typically for cost-driven projects with longer lead time) ship via ocean freight with full customs brokerage included. You pick FOB or DDP terms.

Can you match our existing packaging?

Almost always. Send us a sample or a packaging spec sheet and we'll source matching material, replicate the dieline, and color-match within Delta-E 2 (industry standard for accurate brand color reproduction). Where we can't exactly match a proprietary substrate, we'll flag the gap before quoting.

What file formats do you need for printing?

PDF/X-1a or PDF/X-4 for offset, flexo, and digital. Packaged Adobe Illustrator (.ai with linked images and outlined fonts) is also fine. For flexible packaging and labels we'll often need vector art with separations specified. We send a press-prep checklist after the brief is approved so there's no guessing.

How does sustainability impact pricing?

FSC-certified paper adds 3–8%. PCR plastic varies by content percentage (25% PCR adds ~5%, 100% PCR can add 15–20% depending on the resin market). Compostable materials sit at a premium because supply is limited. We'll quote both standard and sustainable options so you can make the tradeoff transparently.

Can you do drop-ship or direct-to-fulfillment delivery?

Yes. We can ship packaging direct to your 3PL, co-packer, or contract manufacturer. If you use Bravon Fulfillment for order operations, we can keep finished packaging in our warehouse and pull from inventory as your fulfillment scales — no warehousing fee for active accounts.

How fast can you actually deliver?

First projects: 4–8 weeks from approved brief to delivery, depending on format. Reorders: 3–4 weeks since tooling and art are already done. Expedited runs are possible (2–3 weeks for some formats) at a 15–25% rush premium. We'll quote both standard and rush timelines if you ask.
